Editorial Policy

GLS Law Journal

GLS Law Journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic quality, editorial integrity, transparency, and ethical publishing practices. The Journal follows a fair, independent, and rigorous editorial process to ensure the publication of original and high-quality scholarly work in the field of law and allied disciplines.

 

 I. EDITOR’S ROLE

1. Editorial Independence

All manuscripts submitted to the Journal are evaluated solely on their academic merit, originality, relevance, clarity, methodological soundness, and contribution to legal scholarship. Editorial decisions are made without regard to the author’s race, gender, nationality, institutional affiliation, professional status, or personal reputation.

The Editor-in-Chief, in consultation with the Editorial Board, retains full authority over the editorial process, including decisions relating to review, acceptance, revision, rejection, and publication scheduling.

 2. Confidentiality

The Journal maintains strict confidentiality throughout the editorial and peer review process. Editors, editorial staff, and reviewers shall not disclose any information relating to a submitted manuscript to any person other than those directly involved in the evaluation and publication process.

Editors or reviewers shall not use unpublished material contained in a submitted manuscript for personal research or advantage without the express written consent of the author(s).

 

 II. PEER REVIEW PROCESS

GLS Law Journal follows a double-blind peer review system to ensure fairness, objectivity, and academic rigor.

  • All submissions undergo an initial editorial screening to assess suitability, originality, and compliance with submission requirements. 
  • Manuscripts found suitable for consideration are forwarded to expert reviewers for independent evaluation. 
  • The identities of authors and reviewers remain concealed from each other throughout the review process. For this purpose, the section editorial team shall allot manuscript id numbers to the respective papers, which stand as their identification throughout the process. 
  • The Editorial Board considers reviewer comments before making a final decision. 

The decision of the Journal regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection of a manuscript shall be final.

 

 III. PUBLICATION ETHICS AND RESPONSIBLE CONTENT POLICY

The Journal does not tolerate any form of academic misconduct, including but not limited to:

  • Plagiarism 
  • Data fabrication or falsification 
  • Duplicate or redundant publication 
  • Misrepresentation of authorship 
  • Manipulation of citations 
  • Submission of misleading or inaccurate research findings 

Where misconduct is suspected, the Journal may seek clarification from the author(s), conduct an internal review, and take appropriate action, including rejection of the manuscript, withdrawal of publication, notification to relevant institutions, or restriction on future submissions.

GLS Law Journal is committed to promoting responsible, respectful, and ethical academic discourse. Manuscripts containing content that is defamatory, hateful, discriminatory, abusive, or intended to incite hostility against any individual or group on the basis of religion, caste, community, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics shall not be accepted for publication.

The Journal reserves the right to reject, withdraw, or require revision of any submission containing language or arguments that may cause harm, promote prejudice, or violate principles of dignity, equality, and lawful academic expression.

 

 IV. EDITORIAL PROCEDURES

1. Editorial Decisions

The Editorial Board reserves the right to accept, reject, or request revisions (minor/major) to any manuscript based on reviewer feedback, academic quality, legal relevance, originality, ethical compliance, and suitability to the Journal’s scope.

 2. Corrections and Retractions

Where a published article contains significant errors, ethical concerns, or unreliable findings, the Journal may publish corrections, expressions of concern, or retract the article, as appropriate.

Such decisions shall be taken in accordance with accepted academic publishing standards.

3. Commitment to Ethical Publishing

GLS Law Journal continuously strives to align its editorial practices with internationally accepted standards of scholarly publishing and ethical journal management.

The Journal encourages authors, reviewers, and editors to act responsibly, transparently, and professionally in all stages of publication.

 

 V. COPYRIGHT POLICY

At the time of manuscript submission, the corresponding author shall duly complete, sign, and upload the Copyright Declaration Form confirming the originality of the manuscript and granting consent for publication in GLS Law Journal. The corresponding author is generally responsible for communication with the journal during submission and publication processes.

Once published in GLS Law Journal, the manuscript shall not be republished, reproduced, or self-published in any other journal, platform, or medium without the prior written permission of GLS Law Journal.
